Does this kind of thing exist?
A way to view the image from a satellite in real time, kind of like Google Earth?

- Only if u get a job at NASA
- Not QUITE real time, as far as I'm aware but you can view good quality satellite images in "real time" there's just a few minutes delay.
- Oh yes, there certainly is, but not by the every day Joe on the street. Soon maybe.
- Actually, Google Earth appears to have out-dated images which were taken a while back. Anyway, yes it does exist, but its not the type of technology which can be accessed at the local software store. The FBI or NASA would be the best source worth asking, as they'd be the ones using such technology.
- There is no such capability. Even the CIA does not have that capability. The satellite only passes over a given spot in the ground occasionally, and even then the pictures are not transmitted to the ground live. The satellite saves pictures in its memory for periodic dumps, when the satellite is over a tracking station set up to receive its data.
- no
- Yes,virtually real time, but the military has a monopoly on it.
