Can anyone tell me about depressions on topographic maps?
I need to draw a topo map for school of an island, 126 ft. tall, with at least 7 contour lines, and it needs a depression in it. Can you tell me how to draw it in using the 11 contour lines I already have drawn?

- Take your smallest contour line and add a series of short slashes from it pointing towards the center. Or draw a closed countour anywhere between two contour lines and use the inward slashes to indicate the decrease in elevation.
- Depressions are sinkholes. Hope this helps.
- Depressions can be drawn on a topo map by either placing little inward-facing slashes on the topmost contour line, or you can draw a little depression (a circle) and put the inward slashes on. Draw your map in pencil first, I'd say. Hope your map turns out well!!
