Driving questions for road trip and NEED help!?

Okay so my family and I drove to Las Vegas, NV from Omaha, Ne for my Wedding and well they left before giving me directions on how to get back. I know how to get back going the way that we did. However, there were so many Mountain passes and to be honest kind of scary for me. I am not driving alone but I still think that there has got to be an easier way to get back, even if it takes us longer. I would ask my family but that is not an option. To get here we followed mapquest directions through Nebraska and then through Colorado and some of Utah. I was thinking going back we could go from Las Vegas up to Salt Lake City, Ut and then across the entire bottom of Wyoming into Nebraska. By doing it this way we would not have to drive through Colorado at all. My question is (Since I have never driven this way either) Would that be an easier way? Is Utah and Wyoming easier to get through than Colorado? Feel free to check out map quest as well to see what I am talking about. I only have about 24 hrs to figure this out! Thanks!

  1. I -15 N to I -80 E works You have a minor climb on I -15 N through the really pretty Virgin River Gorge- NV/AZ/UT Then I-15 gains altitude slowly to SLC You have another climb on I-80 east of SLC thru Echo Canyon and then I-80 E flattens out and stays reasonably flat all the way to PA
  2. Driving from Vegas back to Omaha would be much easier going for Salt Lake and a straight shot on I-80 (across WY) to NE. You've got some mountains and canyons, but it's interstate, quick, and easy.
