Which of these barns would you choose?
Here are 2 barns I am considering boarding at (I provided links to their websites as well as the maps of their location so you can see satellite images of their properties. Just zoom in): I am meeting with the manager of this farm in one week to discuss a possible boarding agreement: http://www.affinityfarm.com/ Satellite image (select "aerial" on the map and zoom in - it's the property with a big pond in the middle) http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Aldie&state=VA&address=41753+John+Mosby+Hwy&zipcode=20105-2503&country=US&latitude=38.94474&longitude=-77.55864&geocode=ADDRESS And if it doesn't work out there, I am considering meeting with the manager of this farm: http://www.angelicarunfarm.org/ Satellite image (zoom in and follow the road south and look to the right until you see a small pasture with some arenas and jumps) http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Vienna&state=VA&address=1927+Hunter+Mill+Rd&zipcode=22182-2804&country=US&latitude=38.932299&longitude=-77.304943&geocode=ADDRESS I ride western, and neither of these places does but that really doesn't matter. I am trying to find a place close to my house, and both of these barns are within 20 minutes from my house! So which is best? I like Affinity WAYYY better, and I am really hoping it will work out!!

- DEFINITELY the first one! it looks a lot more professional than the other farm. and it looks big!
- definately affinity, the quality looks much nicer!
- Ok, Affinity is 5 minutes from my house. DO NOT BOARD THERE. They look good on the website, but they're not. They jump their horses to death/lameness, they're really strict, and half the horses aren't cared for properly. I rode there for awhile and left because I hated it. My friend boarded her horse there and there was SO much drama. She ended up leaving. Since you're looking in this area, I can help you out. I know a lot of barns in this area. Email me if you're interested! You'd love one of my old barns.
- I love the affinityfarm I hope that works out for you.
- The problem that I see with the first place is that you may find yourself competing for arena space around all the lessons that go on. If you are a casual boarder, this may become incredibly annoying that you're constantly working around a lesson, or worst case, lessons have right of way over boarders.
- No question that Affinity has my vote! It sounds excellent! The trails are to die for, perfect for western. "Pony Pools" really make me angry. I know I shouldn't say that without seeing the place, but anyone can sign up for a pony pool, the horses aren't in good hands. I am SOOO JEALOUS that you (might) get to board at Affinity!!! Horse lover's dream, much?
- woah. this is CRAZY! im looking at one of those barns!!!! affinity has a big ring, trail rides, dressage ring. only the boarders have a stall in the barn, the rest just have feeding ones outside. there are two pastures where the horses stay: 1 for the geldings, and 1 for the mares. they put alot of horses in each of them, which i thought was odd because at my barn now, there are only about 7 in each field. i thought the instructor, lisa, was really nice. and the tack room is odd, there isnt a specific tackbox or saddle pad for one horse, you just use what you want. but it does have showing opportunities about every month, which i liked. one of my current instructors past students boards at angelica. he does quite competitive eventing. so i assume there is a cross country ring. it it just a boarding barn im pretty sure. there are beautiful trails out there, the ring though does get flooded when it rains, because it is lower.
