- Honestly, that sounds really boring. The sky can be gorgeous, but if it's all you take pictures of, it seems kinda bland Skyscape maybe?
- Yes, it's called, amazingly enough ,'Sky and Clouds'. There is a major demand right now for 'Sky and Clouds' photos, seems like no one can take them photographically.
- there is no such thing
- It wouldn't be aerial because that would include flying things like planes, birds and UFO's (of course). Clouds and Skies would be the category... .
- I have heard the term "cloudscape". Generally speaking, a scape that is clouds/sky only is not strong in composition. Sky pictures need ground elements for scale and foreground interest.
- Skies and Clouds aren't categories in and of themselves, but you do see them. Most often, it's photography tied to one of those Inspirational sayings, such as "Reach Beyond the Skies." People actually buy them, but from companies, rather than individual photographers. If you have a good eye for sky formations, you're really talking about just one aspect of Landscape photography. When you see those sky/cloud images that attract your attention, use them as an upper framework for your photograph. In essence, including them, and something that stands out on the horizon (like a lone tree, a single barn. In fact, look at the ending images of the Clint Eastwood film, "Unforgiven," 1992, and you'll see what I mean.), the sky and the horizon images often work better together, and are stronger, than either alone. Imaging a windswept dune, and a radiating cloud formation, or a sailboat running with the wind :) I'd keep shooting sky images, and keep them in a separate digital folder, for those images where the sky Just Won't Co-operate; you can Photoshop them in :) Just don't forget, to come down to earth. There are some great things to shoot here, too.
