real time earth satellite?

is there a program that regular people can use that shows real time images like what Tommy Lee Jones used in men in black it doesnt have to be that detailed or that high tech

  1. Yes. This is a link that will provide you with real-time images of the Earth from the ISS. Unfortunately, due to bandwidth considerations, it only operates when the crew is off duty sleeping. The rest of the time it broadcasts NASA tv. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/isslivestream.asx
  2. That is not possible in reality. In order for a camera to see detail as small as a person on the ground it needs 2 things. 1) It needs a REALLY BIG lens. Military spy satellites are basically just like the Hubble Space Telescope, only pointing at the ground. 2) It needs to be in a very low orbit. Like 200 miles or so, which is as low as you can get without dipping into the upper atmosphere too much. Even the Hubble telescope could not see a person on Earth from thousands of miles up. The problem with the low orbit is the satellite cannot hover over one spot like a communication satellite in an orbit 25,000 miles high does. It passes over any one spot on the ground in a minute or so, and does not pass over that same spot again every day (because of the rotation of the Earth) So the best you (or the CIA) could get is a snapshot every now and then.
