What is the easiest way to find the township and range of a specific place, when you don't have the topo. map?

- Try the counties property appraiser site, you should be able to find it there (if their site is any good)
- Try google. They are conviniant and they don't have mistakes on their maps.
- you can make it easy by askin occupants of the area u are trying to go to
- Most states have Township websites. To check, I just put in Illinois townships in google Search and the Wikipedia website had the entire list of townships in Illinois. Click on the township that you think you want and it will show you a map.
- Zoom into that place on Google Earth. Then go to http://www.earthpoint.us/townships.aspx Scroll down the page to the "National Atlas Township and Range" section. Click on the "View on Google Earth" button. Wait a moment, and then you will see the township and range drawn on Google Earth.
