What does this symbol mean?

Last time I stopped at the overlook in Annapolis Maryland, the WWII memorial had a symbol that appeared to point to the Annapolis School stands you can view it through either of these two links, one to a picture that I made of it and one to a google map aerial http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=38.998415%2C%20-76.482135&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl http://caesarrodneyhs.com/annapolis_overlook.gif I cannot find any referrence to its meaning, can anyone help?

  1. This is just a guess, but it looks like a wonky peace sign, or possibly a naval insignia
  2. Just a fanciful imagination.
  3. Hi Math Teacher, I do really wish that I could remember precisely. It has something to do with the Knights Templar, the Masonic movement, the suppression of the Cathars etc. It comes from somewhere around there. I know that the British Museum could help you. Try asking them there. I think that it costs $15.00 search fee but you will get a very detailed answer. The last time I asked them something really obscure, I got 12 pages of info. Blessed be.
