Does anyone know how often the folded (paper) road maps of Indian cities get updated? I wanted to get some before or during my vacation there, but some say the maps haven't been updated for years so I shouldn't count on being able to find my way even with a map in my hand. Taj Mahal is dying. Help.? I got a huge building, completely made of marble. Owing to the rising pollution and dust, in the hot and humid climate of central india, I want to protect my Marble building from being stained and turn black due to soot deposit. if you haven't figured it out yet, I am talking about the great wonder of the world - The Taj Mahal. Its made of marble. Its the only reason, why Agra is visible as a micro Dot on the world Map. And the only reason why its not getting any bigger. Pollution is everywhere, so is corrupt politicians. Agra has for long been in the limelight for The great Taj Mahal. And now a days its going in the newspapers for all the wrong reasons. politicians see a huge potential in the great tourist attraction place of india. Their most profitable source for minting money. There's hardly any industrialization here due to the pollution control law passed by the government. I mean common! We're in the 21st century, where androids bomb afghanistan, cellphones are worn as wristbands, ice skating is a favourite sport in An Arabian Desert. And much more than this. In this golden era, the Agraiets are left to nothing but nail biting and cursing the government and the great taj Mahal. It may be great for a billion people, but I guess its losing its charm. Agra is filthy, dirty, crowded, and one of the most backward cities of india. Politics or no politics, agra deserves to improve in both infrastructure, and lifestyle. I was only reading the newspaper today, and discovered that they are planning to build a small rope-bridge from Taj Mahal to Agra Fort. Which will have a 800 ton HVAC facility for the tourist. The whole article enumerate so many flaws and bad direction to the plan, that its not worth a debate. Politicians should focus more on infrastructure, employment and economy. All they are actually working on, is perhaps new ways to extort money from the system. Its a shame. And We all need to get to the bottom of all this. How can you protect a marble monument from getting soot deposit due to pollution? I got a few options, would love some comments and more options available. 1. Wash the entire building everyday. 2. Put some chemical, or some Teflon coating, on it to prevent it from getting stained. Any chemical engineers? 3. Cover the entire monument with glass cover and install HEPA filters all around it. Should I move to Camden, NJ or Newark, NJ? I am a surgeon from India and I have received my Green Card a month ago. I have several offers to work in American hospitals. Are all people this stupid?!? i went to community college for my core classes, one day in sociology, idk how it came up but my professor pointed to a map and said "where is indonesia? here?" as she pointed to the philippines. no one knew the answer, as all of them had a confussed look on their face along side an idk shrug. the professor then went on to talk about china and its communism, but she looked hard for the nation and pointed to india. i had to speak out. i told her where it was and that she had been pointing to the wrong country both times. everyone was shocked. and some people told me "wow, you are really good at geography!" it wasn't sarcasm, believe me...i'd been less vexed if it had have been sarcasm, but these students who were 19-55 were honostly amazed that i was such an ''expert.'' soon everyone was looking at maps (perhaps for the first time ever ) whenever she asked a question. so today when i was watching the travel channel about indonesia i figured i'd ask my best friend if she knew where indonesia was. It is the largest Muslim country in the world with 180 million inhabitants. As soon as dawn breaks on the eastern island of Celebes, at approximately 5.30 am local time, Fajr Azan begins.Thousands of Mu'azzins in eastern Indonesia commence proclaiming the Tawheed [Oneness] of the Almighty, Omnipotent and Omniscient ALLAH ta'ala and Risalat [Universal Apostleship] of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The process then continues & advances towards the western islands of Indonesia. The time difference between the eastern & western islands of Indonesia in one & a half hrs. Hence, one & a half hrs after the echoes has been completed in Celebes, it echoes in Jakarta & Java island. Sumatra then follows suit & before this auspicious process of calling Azan ends in Indonesia, it has already begun in Malaysia. Burma is then next in line, & within an hr of its commencement in Jakarta, it reaches Dacca, the capital of Bangladesh. No sooner the calling of Azan ends in Bangladesh, it has already prevailed in western India, from Calcutta to Luknow. It then advances towards to Bombay & the environment of entire India resounds with this glorious proclamation. Srinagar & Sialkot [a city in north Pakistan] have the same timing for Azan. The difference between Sialkot, Kota, Karachi & Gowadar [a city in Baluchistan, a province of Pakistan] is forty minutes, & within this time, Fajr Azan is heard throughout Pakistan. Before it ends in Pakistan, it has already begun in Afghanistan and Muscat. The time difference between Muscat & Baghdad is one hour. Help! Where can I buy an enlarged, not very detailed map? I am doing a project that requires me to have a map about 20 by 30 inches (or so- may also be about half that size, but no smaller) that shows Africa (including Madagascar), India, Portugal, and Brazil.
