What web site will have the most up dated aerial maps of earth? I am looking for a web site that has up to date aerial photo of the land where I live. Where I live it is showing a photo that is several years old.
Do aerial maps provided by Mapquest, Yahoo and Google provide blueprints for terrorists? Just makes it too easy to plan an attack if you have a pretty detailed view of the target.

Are Aerial Maps Censored By The Government? I was looking at "Windows Live" aerial map of Washington D.C. When looking at key places, I noticed two things. The White House is visible to the lowest aerial view, but it's obvious that the roof covered over. And when I looked at the capital building, The building and immediate area around it is pixulated. Aerial airport maps? This is one pissed off Marine!? What a crazy thing to publish! Has anyone seen the aerial photos of popular airports on Yahoo's front page today? What the hell is wrong with Yahoo? I am so sick of Americans who give away info that could help terrorists. "Today, the most popular targets for terrorists are.....and this is how they could attack to inflict the most damage......." How do you contact Yahoo to let your opinon be known? I have been looking and trying to find out how to contact them, but they do a good job of remaining "unreachable." Americans remain their own worst enemy. I need help with recieving Aerial/Topo maps for hunting? I live in Washington state.... Anyone know how/where I would get a laminated aerial/topo map for a specific hunting area, without having to spend a bunch of money? Do libraries carry aerial maps that I could possibly make copies of? I have found many resources on google, but I would have to spend more than I would like for a map, and I most likely have to wait a few days before I could get it through the mail. Why haven't mapping sites updated their aerial pictures? There is a beautiful new sports stadium in the east side of Allentown, PA, but the latest aerial view from any of the map sites, at best only shows partial construction of the stadium.

Scale bar of an aerial photogtraph? Hi all, I have an aerial photo which needs interpretation and a proper scale. I have done the inteepretation and done the scale, as they were required. One thing that I could not get my head around is assigning the scale bar. The scale of the aerial map is 1:80,000. How do I derive a proper sclae bar for this map? Please help, as this will save me.
How often do they take the satellite images that you can zoom in on at websites like google maps? I was just being nosy and was looking at the aerial (sp?) view of my city and noticed that it is a rather old view. A library that has been open for a few years now is just in it's construction stage at the point the images were taken on the map. Just curious if anyone knows.

Why are Google Maps aerials of such poor quality? Google seems to get all of the acclaim over their maps, but in reality their aerials are very poor for much of the United States. For example, not a square mile of Ottawa County, Michigan, despite being the 243rd largest county out of 3,141 US counties, can be viewed in high res. Where can I find high-resolution historic maps (pre-1900), of mines/geologic features, available for download? I'm doing a short report on the history of remote sensing applications in geology and I just want some maps before the use of remote sensing (pre-1900s) to show the difference between maps done from the ground, versus aerial photographs/satellite photographs. Is there a file size limit for Adobe PDFs? I have paid a GIS consultant to create detailed aerial maps for use in my business, using some specialized GIS software. We now want to take "snapshots" of certain sections of the maps, to share with certain of my associates. We're trying to do that by creating PDF's, which seem to work when we create relatively manageable (under 50KB) size PDF's, but we actually need to create some maps which I believe will be 0.5 GB to 1.0 GB each in PDF format - but when we try to create PDF's that large, it doesn't work. Is there a file size limit with Reader? Can I upgrade to some form of Adobe Acrobat that doesn't have a file size limit? Any other ideas? Thanks!

What was Google Street View actually created for? I mainly look at it out of curiousity, to explore, and, ahem, "stalk", if you will. But what constructive/meaningful purpose is it for? I mean, traditional aerial maps are good enough to find places.

I have the most beautiful living fence---leyland cypress spaced 10 feet apart down about a 250 feet stretch. This is also my windbreak from the north, and I love those trees--yea tree hugger-not. but I do love to walk and look at each one-make sure it is doing fine. On google map it is great. I worked so hard to plant. It took me 3 plantings--I have so many rabbits--they ate up my first 2 trys. Sad part this hot summer -8 died, and digging up the old tree was hard work. I initially planted them in the pouring rain, and the hole half filled with water by the time it was dug. Anyways, I am so happy, the ones that the drought killed r replaced. This wednesday may be raining and I can kill the grub worms and ants I found in the new holes.........HOORAY! question? would anyone want an aerial photo of your property? go me it is like 3D......and I have to imagine how it will look from the air before I even plant.
How Do I get corrected an inacccurate address location on mapquest and google maps & GPS devices? When you type my address into google maps or mapquest it gives the wrong location. This is namely due to the fact that the street I live on was built 5 years ago. It is an extentsion of an existing street and it shows up on the aerial photos if you change to that view. Is there anyway to contact the vendors who provide this info. to Google, MapQuest and other GPS devices. If people use what is there, they wind up on the wrong side of a busy street and it is one of those "you can't get there from here" situations, w/o doing a lot of turns. Many thanks.
Where can I find current aerial sattalite pictures ? I am trying to find a lake in the woods near where I live. The lake is small so it does not show up on regular maps.
How were maps made before planes and satellites existed? it's obvious now with the technology we have, how we know where things are on this earth. but back in the day, how were people able to draw out maps? i dont know any facts on this subject but i know maps have been out for hundreds of years, way before we could see an aerial shot, and they're fairly accurate. how did they manage to do that? pretty smart people back then, eh.
