aerial photos? does anybody know of a site where you can get an aerial photo of your house for free? i have googled this subject , but the ones that are coming up only allow you to view from about 1/2 mile up , i was looking for something , say 150-200 yards.

How can I identify a stately home from an aerial photo? There is no information written on the back of the pic I found a mysterious framed aerial photo of a stately looking house among some old photos at my mother's house. She doesn't recognise it. There is no information on the picture or the frame. You may think I'm strange but I've always dreamed about a house just like this, and to find an actual photo of a house that I thought existed only in my imagination just seems weird! I'm not very good at architecture but will describe the house: It's made from sandy coloured stone It's two storey and at the centre front there are four huge full-height pillars supporting a section of roof that projects. The windows are made up of lots of smaller panes. There are outbuildings to the rear left of it. It looks to be surrounded by quite a fair few trees, and has a large rectangular gravelled area to the front with lawns beyond that. The house itself - looking from above - is like a rectangle with the main entrance on one of the short sides of the rectangle.
Question about aerial photos using ArcGIS? i have downloaded some aerial photos from www.pasda.net (pennsylvania spatial data access) and when opened in arcmap they are in 3 bands and black and white. These are suppposed to be color images and appear in color when i open them with windows picture viewer or another software like that. What is the problem and how do i fix it? I really need this imagery in color for my maps.

I'm new to weather balloons. I'd like to launch one to about 500 feet to take aerial photos. What do I need? I'm curious about what size balloon (in diameter) and what volume of helium I'd need in it to carry about two pounds of equipment and a strong tether. The overall weight may be about 2.5 pounds, and consist of a digital camera, a radio control receiver, and the weight of whatever tether line is suitable to use out to about 500 feet. Is it safe to use kite string? How strong does it have to be if there are 10-20mph gusts of wind? How much volume of helium should I order to fill a balloon enough to carry 2 or 3 pounds of load? After reeling in the balloon, is there a method to reclaim/re-compress the helium? This is for a Burning Man project, and I already have three unopened 7 foot diameter latex balloons.

I said lets look at Google earth, for some aerial photos. and as we did it became obvious , that all the photos covering the death camps, ware all low res photos, so I was wondering , Why is this? My nephew is going to Auschwitz this week, and wanted to know if he would have time to see the whole camp , and give each part the respect it deserves. where to find original aerial photos, where to scan large pics? I have a number of aerial photos of the farm on which my mother was raised that were taken over the last 50-60 years. I would like to get new prints made as well as have digital copies backed up. They are too large to scan myself, and because they have been displayed they aren't in top form anyway (faded, scratched, etc.). I tried looking up the info found on the back of some of them to see if I could contact any of the businesses that originally sold the photos to my grandparents to see if they have proofs or negatives archived, but either they no longer exist or I just don't have enough info to track them down. Any ideas on how to find the proofs or negatives? The photos were taken in MN about 50 miles southwest of Minneapolis/St.Paul. Where can I take the large photos to have them scanned? Anywhere in Minnesota (twin cities, suburbs) or even the Sioux Falls, SD area would work for taking them to be scanned.

Has anyone ever knocked on your door, unsolicited, and offered to sell you an aerial photo of your house? Someone just offered to sell us an aerial photo of our house. He knocked on the door, completely unsolicted. Seems verrrrrry weird that someone took a picture of our house from an airplane or whatever and did that.

Any suggestions for aerial photography? I have just started taking aerial photos for our business/web site. Do I need a filter? Or rely on photoshop? Opening the window freaks me out so I have been shooting thru the glass. It was suggested to increase the ISO (did that) and set the histogram to high contrast ( have not been able to figure this out) Any suggestions are appreciated. I am not selling them. I have the most beautiful living fence---leyland cypress spaced 10 feet apart down about a 250 feet stretch. This is also my windbreak from the north, and I love those trees--yea tree hugger-not. but I do love to walk and look at each one-make sure it is doing fine. On google map it is great. I worked so hard to plant. It took me 3 plantings--I have so many rabbits--they ate up my first 2 trys. Sad part this hot summer -8 died, and digging up the old tree was hard work. I initially planted them in the pouring rain, and the hole half filled with water by the time it was dug. Anyways, I am so happy, the ones that the drought killed r replaced. Where can I get aerial photos of Danang Air base 1970 south end where ammo supply was at.? Need to know the name of road and the small river that we had to cross by wooden ferry going from Camp Hover Seabee base to the ammo supply depo that we were building on the air base. We would leave our base and go right and go around the south end of the air base on an outer road cross the small river and go back north for miles and hit a road that took you right along the airstrip to get to the ammo supply shelter we were building. The ammo supply was only 2 miles from our base but for some reason we had to travel about 25 miles to get to it buy going around the south end.
